The Irish Austin Seven Club has several events tentatively planned for 2021 (subject to Covid-19 restrictions). We hope that you can join us, either as a Seven owner or as a member of the club. We will publish more details on each event along with entry forms nearer the time.
SPRING RUN – Sunday 23rd May 2021
Foregather at the carpark at Cahir Castle for morning refreshments (having parked up trailers at Cahir Marts spacious car park). Bring your own or cross the road to The Riverside Café.
At 11:15 am, be prepared to leave on a drive in the splendid countryside of Co. Tipperary, where scenic drives abound and are plentiful. Not all compulsive driving, we take the opportunity for a stop or two if only to admire something of interest or allow our old cars to cool down and have a chat amongst ourselves. In or about 12:45 pm we stop for lunch. Probably a picnic affair where members bring their own food and beverage. Our resting place will be safe and allow plenty of space to keep our distance.
Maybe at 2:00 pm we are off on our second half of our trip where we would hope to have a scheduled stop or two, and making way so as to arrive at our base by 5:00 pm. This gives plenty of time to load up, exchange good byes and get home in daylight. Members will be notified by e-mail as we progress.
WEST CORK SUMMER RUN – Sunday 23rd May 2021
West Cork is a magical place as everyone knows and we are spoilt for choice in selecting our rally base, be it Bandon, Clonakilty or Dunmanway. There are others just as delightful and we shall leave it to our organiser to decide. We envisage a two leg tour comprising about 50 miles in all with a lunch stop half way and intermediate stops aplenty. Probably a picnic arrangement would meet with approval by everyone not just because it is safer but most probably sociable and enjoyable. As regards timing, foregather at 10:30 am, start the tour at 11:15 am and lunch stop at 12:45 pm. Afterwards we proceed from 2:15pm, ambling along with occasional stops but arriving at base by 5:00 pm.
FIRST ANNUAL RALLY at SLIGO (or where ever, North or South) – 10th /11th July 2021
This may be a long shot for a new club but better to make an indicative plan than do nothing. Sligo is a good spot with plenty of places to go, see and enjoy. There are other beauty spots, not least the Cooley Peninsula, or prospective rally bases at Enniskillen or Letterkenny. We are fortunate in Ireland the list is endless.
It takes one or two enthusiastic rally people to set a rally base, design a suitable itinerary and arrange accommodation for our group. There is plenty of time to get soundings from members as to whether this can be done. Hopefully it will; time will only tell! Stay tuned for updates. Members will be notified by e-mail as we progress.
STRADBALLY STEAM FAIR – Sunday 1st August 2021
Ireland’s largest steam festival takes place over the August Bank Holiday week end where many clubs arrange for members to display their vehicles. This static show is very sociable. As a for instance we have the capacity to team up with The Irish Model T Ford Club and share jointly the presentation of veteran and vintage cars and commercials. This show has proved in the past to be a good recruiting ground for prospective new members and affords the public the pleasure of inspecting and admiring vehicles of by gone days that the younger folk would have heard about from their grand parents and other senior relatives and friends.
There is little organising for this one and maybe some or other members would take this on. Members will be notified by e-mail as we progress.
AUGUST PICNIC RUN – SUNDAY 22nd August 2021
It is what is says on the tin. A picnic run. Somewhere central to those active members who have toured with our Club during the year to date and would host such an event. Timing format that works well is assembly at 10:30 am and closure by 5:00 pm. In the middle is lunch for an hour or so with plenty of stops before lunch and on our home bound leg of the journey. Volunteers to please contact our honorary secretary so as to make and implement a plan of action. Members will be notified by e-mail as we progress.
AUTUMN RUN – Sunday 26th September 2021
Right now this seems light years way but as we all know time runs away far faster than we realise. A lot depends on our take up oof runs throughout 2021, not least forgetting the dreaded Covid-19, the inoculation process and the eagerness of members to get out and about and enjoy their Sevens as the year starts to close in. Venue to be determined by the take up of members, timing as established from experience and probably a picnic affair. More about this as we progress along 2021. Stay tuned for updates. Members will be notified by e-mail as we progress.
